I don't think we'll ever see anything really like STALKER ever again. The team is too fragmented, and nobody really knows if GSC can make a game on par with the original games. A lot of the guys that worked on the original STALKER games are either at 4A Games or Vostok Games. Thing is, it would be hard for GSC to make STALKER 2.

Projects like this noises of the zone are doomed though. I'm sure with a new engine and technology it would be incredible but until then modding is our only hope for new experiences. It does give us an idea what a fully backed and produced game in the Stalker universe by GSC could be similar to in the future, there must be a day when a new stalker is announced. And probably would never be finished and released anyway. Originally posted by Nessus:Looks great and sounds great. Quite apart from using the S.T.A.L.K.E.R log which is a Brand owned by GSC and thus protected by copyright there seems to be numerous uses of GSC game assets. I totally agree with you and others that this sounds like a scam. 26th April will see the release of LA Directors Cut. Lost Alpha mod was built with GSC blessing (was going to be released as a pay for use in partnership with GSC but cancelled cos a tester put it out before release). With this, though, they're asking for money. Lost Alpha was released as a free standalone and it was basically SoC with cut content, and it's honestly surprising it's still up as a free downloadable title. At this point, you have to wonder how long it will be before the project is shut down. Check it out still didn't drop the use of STALKER assets, though.
